What is the different between database and spreadsheet?
A database is more for storing lots of information about different examples of something. So for example, if you were car salesmen you may have a database of cars for sale. You open it up, and you can look at, say, the 56 different cars for sale, and check out the prices, top speeds, deals, mileage etc and compare different models together. Each area of information, such as price, top speed etc is called a field. Most databases allow searching in fields, so that of the database of 56 cars, you can search for red ones only, for example.
A spreadsheet, such as Excel, on the other hand, deals with calculations. So the same salesmen may have a spreadsheet, detailing how many cars he has sold each month, how much he has sold each for, how much commission he is getting, how much profit etc. You can use the spreadsheet to perform calculations for you, so if he has a commission of 7%, he can enter the profit for the company he has ade, and the commission he gets from this will be calculated for him. Then, if he sells another vehicle, he can update the profit, and the change in commision is updated for him automatically.
Hope this helps.

In my opinion
MS access are more effective in use than Ms excal.
Becouse the most common things in Excel is multiplications processes
while Ms Access had a link with MS access to make Multiplication things in

Re: What are the main differences between Access and Excel
there are many differences between them just like:
-to make a query in Access is more easy,
-managing and finding files is more fast in access
-we can create and use an interface in Access
-Can handle many users accessing the database
-Access can hold image for ID
-Excel is easier to use

Re: What are the main differences between Access and Excel
alsalam alikom,,,,,,,,,,,,
I know that I come later....
but.................................
from my research , I found this
" MS excel is a spreadsheet software good for organizing and displaying stuff. MS Access is a database program and can serve as backend database with window software or internet applications.
But it is a very basic one and not used often in professional world.
If you have a software that does all the stuff, you should careless about what database it uses.
But if you need to do everything manually, I suggest you stay away from Access and use Excel which is a more common office tool. I also suggest you make a good use of the help file there. There are a bunch of formulas you can put in each cell that calculates stuff. "
