So, if the answer is YES to all of some of these questions?

Re: What are the main differences between Access and Excel
from my research that is what I have found
If multiple users, and especially non-technical users, will use your system, then Access is probably better. If more than one person needs to update the contents of your data store at one time, then Access is better (because Excel will lock the whole spreadsheet for one user).

I think the differences between axcel and access that You would use Access to collect, manupilate and sort data.
and we use excel to create financial spreadsheets. Excel has some limited capabilities to sort data but its primary function is to create financial spreadsheets.

In my view the main differences between spreadsheet and database are:
Excel is basically number driven You can use it for Accounting / Club membership Subscriptions / Basic Add subtract / and formulas.
Access is a program that can store information and retrieve it in any form.
A database is more for storing lots of information about different examples of something.
A spreadsheet, such as Excel, on the other hand, deals with calculations.

alsalam alikom,,,
Ithink the differances between these tow application is that:the database allow to creat switchboard and query but the spreadsheet doesn't allow for that..
thank you

MS Excel is the cheapest way to obtain database capability because you can use it to merge with MS Word and vice versa. For example, you maintain your suppliers information in one spreadsheet in a workbook and use MS Word to generate letters with common contents to them by Mail Merge. Instead of keying one by one to series of MS Word files, you use one MS Word file to generate multiple letters in one go.
MS Access can used for inventories, contacts, time management, sales/purchase, and many others. You have SQL capability, web-based database capability for your web site, and among other uses that require database. Similar to MS Excel, it can be linked up with other MS Office applications like MS Word and MS Excel for integrated use.

Re: What are the main differences between Access and Excel
Excel is a general spreadsheet program, which will allow BASIC database functions - however, it is "flat file" which means that you can only have one table in your database. It's also single user in that only one person can safely edit the data at any one time (yes, you can share the workbook, but this only works if you know that any one record will be modified by only one user!)
Access is much more flexible, allowing relational database functionality - and has a better query functionality. Other alternatives are any database system (eg SQL Server if you want to go the whole hog!) and is of course multi user.

Re: What are the main differences between Access and Excel
Ms access and ms-excel are both used for databases
but ms-access is more power ful than ms-excel
Both are for different purposes
1)MS-Access has rdbms concept but ms-excel doesn't.
2)Ms-excel is used for calculation and making graphs etc but in access we dont have such a facility;
3)We have a table in access but in excel we have sheets .
[1] Report Excel cannot easily be shared
Excel is not scalable (limited rows)
Access can do calculations (incorrect above) in forms, reports and queries
Excel has limited validation rules
but ms-access is more power ful than ms-excel

Re: What are the main differences between Access and Excel
we would use Access to collect, manupilate and sort data. The primary use of excel is to create financial spreadsheets. Excel has some limited capabilities to sort data but its primary function is to create financial spreadsheets.
With Excel you can create extremely complicated financial "what if" scenarios where you can change some variables and get a good look at the financial consequences. It is an extremely powerful spread sheet. It does have some sorting capabilities but you would not want to try to create and maintain a complex database in Excel.
With Access you can collect, sort and manupliate data. For example you could do a data base on a large number of employees or members of a club, storing all the personal information. Then you could ask the program to give you just those that fit in any set of parameters. For example, employees with over ten year service, or employees in a certain state, division, zip code. Access can be used for any application where there is a large amount of data and you want the ability to sort it by different criteria.

in my opinion, and just an opinion:
MS excel was developed to contain numerical data and apply mathematical functions on them and that why the FX effects are more specific and professional in excel. also, excel can't relate between any two cells or sheets without applying difficult mathematical functions.
while in MS access, it was developed to contain any type of data and classify it according to the forms or queries. and you can manage your data and classify it easily in access more than excel because you do not have to enter any mathematical functions to it except in desire.
